Meet the team: Women's 025-1 M.H.C. de Kikkers
We are Jong Dames 1, or Ladies O25-1, from the M.H.C. De Kikkers hockey club in Nieuw-Vennep. We have been a close-knit and very friendly team of 15 girls for a number of years now. We love parties and having fun, but we are also very competitive on the field!For the past two seasons, we have been active in the O25 transition class, the highest class in our age group!
On the field, we promote sportsmanship and fun for everyone. Off the field, we are also active volunteers for the hockey club, because we believe it is important to be involved in the club. An example of being an active volunteer for the club is organizing trial training sessions for young children who want to try hockey!
We are a team of friends; in our class, it is important to train enough. We train twice a week instead of once a week. We try to encourage each other to train twice and spend time in team activities such as parties and team weekends.
Sponsorship helps us a lot! It allows us to buy tracksuits for the team, giving us a professional look. We also use the sponsorship money to go on a team weekend in February. This gives the team spirit a huge boost, and last year we noticed this immediately in the first games after the team weekend!
Since last season, we have been competing in the transitional league. This is the highest league for our age group. If we finish in first place, we can participate in the Dutch Championships! We hope to finish in first place this year!
